Decorate With Deena | Ramadan Decor on a Budget

Salam all! Ramadan is upon us alhamdulilah! I know it is probably not going to be anything like we’ve ever experienced, but let’s still try to make the most of it.

One of my favorite parts of Ramadan is getting to decorate my house in a way that puts me in the spirit of the holy month. If you only have the resources to decorate just one room in your house, make it the dining area because that’s where a lot of the spirit of Ramadan lives…where we have iftar!

Since I wasn’t able to decorate this year, the photos below are from last year when I invited my friends over for iftar during the last ten days. I had such a blast decorating the room so be sure to continue reading to see how I set it all up.

Everything in the photos below (except the plates and the date bowl) is from Michael’s. I just went in knowing I wanted a gold theme and I actually found a lot of this stuff in the clearance section! I always like a gold theme when it comes to Ramadan decor because it feels more festive to me. Of course, that is not to say that any other aesthetic would not be just as nice.

A common trend in Ramadan decor is lanterns. I love lanterns for every occasion but for Ramadan especially because of the cultural roots; they are everywhere during Ramadan in the Middle East.

I filled little cartons on each plate with candy for my friends and even put little name tags on them. The date bowl is from the kbk relief foundation that was part of a charity they did last Ramadan. I made the banner on the wall from a pack of blank invitation pages with a gold border. It was super easy to string it together and hang it up on the wall!

I had such a wonderful time with my friends that night and I really wish I could do it again with them this year but subhanAllah this Ramadan will be a quiet one. In sha’ Allah it will be filled with even more blessings than last year, though.
