Dine With Deena | Overnight Oats

If you’ve known me for a while, you’ve probably seen me eat, make or talk about overnight oats. Not only are they super easy to make, but they’re also so good for you. Everything you put in there contributes to a healthy diet. There are several ways you can make them but I usually stick to the same recipe that I’ll share below. I make them about every other week on Sunday nights so that I can have one each day for 4 days. You can have them for breakfast (which is a great way to start the day) or as a snack.

The first thing you’ll need for overnight oats are mason jars. My favorite ones to use for this are 16oz. jars. I got mine from Target in a pack of four for a little over $5 which is amazing! They seal really well so the oats stay fresh and they have a wide mouth which makes it easy to eat from.

The next things you’ll need are the base for every jar which are the organic versions of old-fashioned rolled oats, chia seeds, flax seeds, unsweetened almond milk, and honey. You can keep all of these in your pantry/fridge for a while since they all last a pretty long time! You can purchase any brand you feel comfortable with for everything but my favorite brand is Bob’s Red Mill for the oats, chia and flax seeds. If you live by a Kroger, they should have all three of those things from Bob’s Red Mill. Otherwise your local grocery store should have everything or you can try a Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, or even Walmart.

Next, you can choose to add any kind of fruit you’d like but I prefer to cut up an apple and some strawberries (not pictured) into small pieces and throw them in there for mixing. I also love to have dates in there too during Ramadan! Try to avoid using bananas though, after the first day they get really soggy in the jars.

For the topping, I like to use a chocolate granola and coconut chips mix. My favorite brands to use are the Kind Dark Chocolate Whole Grain Clusters mixed with Bare Coconut Chips. I haven’t been able to find those two products recently so I bought this one by Love Crunch instead and it tastes great!
